Scaling Safe and Sustainable by Design through Industrial Data Spaces

Penang, Malaysia – May 27, 2026 – The Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) Chips Value Chain Services (SCVCS) initiative is pleased to announce that its latest research, titled “Trustworthy Smart Fabs via Professional Proxies: Scaling Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) through Industrial Data Spaces,” has been formally accepted for presentation in the proceedings of the 32nd IEEE ICE/ITMC Conference.
Research Contribution: Bridging Compliance and Innovation
The research introduces the “Professional Proxies” framework—a novel approach to managing regulatory governance within semiconductor manufacturing. Authored by Han-Teng Liao (Independent Researcher), Chang-Yi Kao (Soochow University), and Karen Ang (Independent Researcher), the study addresses the critical “Data Sovereignty Paradox” faced by advanced “Smart Fabs”. By implementing autonomous agentic workflows within hardware-isolated Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), the framework enables fabs to verify sustainability profiles without exposing proprietary manufacturing recipes.
